Funny. I've been revisiting R.E.M. this week. Pulled out Lifes Rich Pageant and have been playing it non-stop. I often play music with my webcam on the record player as kids are coming into the "zoom" classroom. It is a welcome-to-class feature I call "Song of the Day." Today, it was "Flowers of Guatemala" which initiated a discussion about our propensity for assisting dictators in killing their own people, as long as they assisted us in pushing back against the USSR. That song is haunting. For me, it was Lifes Rich Pageant that hooked me to this band.
