What’s your go-to thing when the anxiety hits?

Is it your bed? Netflix? A dark movie theater? A book? A 6-pack? Eating cookies? Hanging out with your dog? Sitting on your back porch smoking a joint? Music? A good podcast? A long walk?

I could go on but you get the idea. We all seek comfort when the walls are closing in. But very rarely does this comfort involve anybody else. Anxiety comes from other people. At times it can feel like you’re being paraded through the streets being pelted with rotten fruit. “Hell is other people”. So said the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, who later tried to clarify that he didn’t mean it quite the way it sounded. But eventually he just said fuck it and became known as the grumpy French misanthrope guy. Made a decent living too.
