When in Rome
It's hard to spin a shortage of baby formula. I mean.....what kind of shithole country runs out of baby formula?
It's a horror. Desperate parents driving 1000 miles to track some down. Dangerous homemade recipes are proliferating online like a virus, spread by the same gene pool that fell in love with horse dewormer paste and injected bleach. Images of European cargo planes filled with formula touching down in the US, as if we're the recipient of somebody else's Marshall Plan. It's the perfect storm of human greed and bureaucratic bungling and unempathetic incompetence…driven into a fucking brick wall by the vagaries and downright fakery of free market capitalism. Not surprisingly, the shortages have mainly affected poor families, which I'm sure is shocking to y'all.
Not really noticed among the cacophony of all this is that in the last 12 months the cost of formula has increased by nearly 20%....so before they were starving your babies they were price gouging the shit out of them.
