When does the devil come for you?

War is strange business. Especially in the midst of today’s insatiable 24-7 news cycle.

It comes crashing through the room, and then something as insignificant as a slap across the face can sent it scurrying off to points unknown. For over a week you might have thought that Putin too was so transfixed with Will Smith smacking Chris Rock that he called a ceasefire to ponder that act’s global significance. War was suddenly gone from the headlines, replaced by deep, inscrutable Denzel quotes (“at your highest moment….that’s when the devil comes for you..”) and roundtable discussions with all the gravitas of the Yalta conference.
