I just found out that Aerosmith has embarked on the now fairly ubiquitous “farewell tour”. I thought they had done this already, but a quick check proves me wrong. It’s hard for me to keep up these days. Elton John and Kiss both stretched their farewell treks into YEARS worth of shows, and nobody really believes either of them will sit around doing nothing for long. The Who, most famously, said farewell in 1982, and 40+years later are currently on yet another jaunt, dead band members be damned. But teasing fans that it may be their last chance to see you is one of the only ways to spur demand, especially when it’s been decades since you last had a hit.
