July 4th is nearly here.....our nation's Independence Day. It's easy for forget that our "Founding Fathers", the famous dudes with the funny wigs that have Broadway musicals and Ken Burns documentaries made about them, only came to prominence because they stood on the backs of thousands and thousands of Americans who fought and died for the right to govern themselves. Included in this number are men Franklin/Jefferson/Hamilton/Washington et all thought it perfectly legitimate to own, which probably gave the framers as much pause as they gave the 2nd amendment 15 years later when somebody asked “so you’re sure all we’ll ever have is flintlocks, then?”
