Recollections on every decade I’ve been alive.

The 60s is here.
The 70s is here.
The 80s is here.
The 90s is here.
The Aughts is here.

I just learned today that this decade is sometimes referred as the “Tenties” in the UK. They have more flair with language than we do.

Not gonna lie I had to google what was happening culturally during this time. I was busy working, then losing my job and going into full panic mode, which included returning Christmas gifts and doing the math on how long it was gonna take before the bank took my house (answer? Not long at all). Thankfully I was only out of work for about 3 months, but it FEELS longer than that when you are navigating the unemployment corridor. Eventually I had to apply in person, as I could not get through on the phone. The process is every bit as humbling as they seemingly try to make it. The forced supplication is demeaning and infuriating. Everybody looked so tired. Everybody looked older than they surely were. I was new to this, and had some wiggle room at least. Looking around, I don’t think I ever felt worse in my life.
