"Our better angels have lousy self-esteem..."

Schools. Malls. Churches. And now the Subway during the morning commute. Keeping the gunfire away is like trying to keep water out of the basement during torrential rain. We can only calculate the odds and learn to live with them. Our chances are good, after all. It will almost always be somebody else, someplace else....in the same way that a single bullet spun in the chamber will usually produce nothing but a harmless click.
