It was 7 years ago today...in Paris.....

I woke up today to news of more killings. Three dead at the University of Virginia. Senseless. Not enough bodies to make frontpage news. But if you clicked around a bit, you might have seen it too. It might or might not meet the definition of “mass shooting”, since nobody can quite agree if that number should be three or four. That’s actually a thing.

And then Facebook reminded me that I wrote what follows 7 years ago. In the wee hours of the morning after a gig. That terrible night in Paris. I’d completely forgotten about it. Maybe you had too. We live in a world where such things ARE forgettable, to our everlasting shame.

Music and friendship got me through then, as it does now. Along with a fierce love of my family that acts like a paper-weight in the wind.

I don’t know what to say but feel the urge to say something….anything….so I can at least look back on today and have a record of what was going through my head.
