"It used to hurt. Now it just pisses me off...."

Pieces of my own family have gone around the bend.

It’s gone way beyond drunken MAGA Uncle arguments at Thanksgiving affecting the Christmas dinner invitations. It’s gone way beyond “agreeing to disagree” and “moving on”.

How exactly do you “move on” from those who are still waving confederate flags? Or the swastika?

ICE is showing up at public elementary schools. What’s next? Day care centers? Nurseries?

Every promise made that hurts people is being kept. Every promise made to help people is being scoffed at. The cruelty is the point, and no moral arc of the universe or better angels of anyone’s nature (or indeed any “adult in the room”) is going to stop it. It’s ingrained now. It’s a cult, sure. But no longer one of singular personality. Trump has spawned so many in his own likeness that his inane gibbering is becoming increasingly irrelevant. Of course he’s an idiot. But there are scores of idiots who could easily take his place. That’s the thing with being an idiot. It’s not a hard act to follow.
