Think of the friends you had growing up.
Think of the friends you have now.
Do they intersect?
Probably not.
It’s often a revolving door, this friendship thing. People drift into and out of our lives. Some stick. Most do not. People move away, or start hating the wrong people or loving the wrong bands. They steal your girl or move on to a cooler crowd. Maybe the guy you thought you knew starts ordering Zima at the bar. Grade school friends who go to a different high school might as well have moved to Mars. High School friends who go away away to college become apparitions that you only see the night before Thanksgiving. And so it goes. There’s a million ways to disappear without having to say goodbye.
