Friday Night Lights

I’ve managed to get myself completely hooked on “Friday Night Lights”….a series I missed when it aired 15+ years ago. It’s all about high school in a football obsessed Texas town, and like most shows depicting high school students, it uses 25+ year old actors to portray 16 and 17 year old kids, which takes some getting used to.

The story lines are preposterous, as is how good looking everybody is in what is supposed to be a backwards-ass long dead oil town in the middle of the Texas prairie. But the football narrative, in which the boys on the team are feted like swaggering princes in the hallways, and indeed all over town, could play just about anywhere.
