I've written about the current situation with Scranton's teachers here and here last week.
So far the teachers are hanging together. They've gotten a lot of support, from near and far. It’s been heartwarming to see. You just get the feeling that this time….maybe….
All of this needs to stay on the front page. What kills strikes is apathy. When the pizzas and donuts and coffee stop being delivered.....when the car horns stop beeping in solidarity not because the drivers don't necessarily still support the cause, but because they barely notice the cause. When the cold wind pierces you like a knife, and all you want is to be warm, that’s when it’s easy to leave gaps in the line.
It’s exciting to start. It’s drudgery to finish.
If it was easy, everybody would do it.
