Over the years I've written a lot for the stage. Full length plays and one-act plays and monologues etc…

I don't do it much anymore, because I'm busy doing this, but sometimes friends will ask for a new short piece for this or that stage project, and I'll help if I can. In 2020 I created a series of socially-distanced Covid related monologues for a local high school drama club. That was a fun one.

The latest ask was a 10 minute monologue dealing with "Christmas in prison". Sometimes that's all the prompt you get. That's part of the fun. It may see the stage. It may not. Once you let ‘em go that’s up to others.

But I thought I’d share it here either way. I wrote this this morning.

This will be my 12th Christmas in here.

4458 days in case anybody is keeping score at home.

First things first.
