Christmas came and went with a fury
Christmas came and went with a fury this year. A savage winter storm touched down....well....just about everywhere. But Buffalo got it the worst here in the east, with dozens of deaths so far....and surely more to come. Another FOOT of snow is forecast today. With more gale force winds. People are literally buried in their own homes and cars. Emergency services are non-existent because they can't reach anybody. People are freezing to death. Dying of carbon monoxide poisoning. Heart attacks. Lack of medication.
Even National Guard troops, as usual too few were called in too late, are getting stuck, necessitating rescues from OTHER National Guard troops. Surely not the intention. It's a biblical disaster, in one of the richest nations in the world. And it's the kind of thing that's becoming more common due to climate change, which, like all science, doesn’t give a fiddler’s fart if you believe in it or not.
In the midst of all this ongoing carnage, the virulently Christian Republican Governor of Texas thought it'd be the perfect time to own the libs by sending 3 busloads of migrants, over 100 human beings, including women and children and infants, to Washington DC. On Christmas Eve. He arranged for them to be literally dumped outside of the Vice President's home in sub-freezing temperatures, with zero warning. Local aid organizations had to scramble in real time to find shelter for them all. And they did. On their own Christmas Eve’s. Because not everybody in the world is a cruel fucking monster like Greg Abbott.
