A Quest for Fun

I love the fall but don’t much like Halloween. The fall reminds me that the dreadful summer is over. Halloween reminds me that fall is fleeting. Once the leaves have all fallen away, it’s darkness until spring.

I’ve always disliked Halloween. Outside of a few years wearing those store bought costumes with the plastic mask held by the rubber-band that always breaks, I’d always find an excuse not to do the door-to-door begging ritual. I’d fake sick….develop a well-timed cough or chill. That worked on those cold nights when your costume would be ruined by the bulky coat Mom insisted you wear over it anyway. Spider Man did NOT wear a winter parka and a Minnesota Vikings cap.
