Baseball will be here soon. The annual off-season dick waving between kerbillionaires was settled just in time to save the full 162 game season, and not 1 fan in 100 could tell you what it was all about. Considering the massive upheaval in the world, the squabbling seemed even more petty and tone-deaf than usual. Baseball owners have more in common with Russian oligarchs than we’re willing to admit, and the average MLB salary of over $4 million doesn't exactly conjure up images of oppressed breaker-boys. So a prolonged strike might have spurred a bunch of pissed off New Yorkers tired of paying $6 for foamy cups of flat Bud Light to requisition the Steinbrenner yacht and Gerrit Cole's mansion. The part of me that doesn't love baseball would have loved to see that.
